Block #4: Pinwheel CAL Block
by ReCrochetions
Above is the original made in 4 colors! Below, you can see my version, made with my 4 colors!
The Details:
My Notes: This pattern has a very unique construction to begin with, so please read through the entire pattern, including the special stitches, before you begin crocheting. I recommend putting a stitch marker in the blo of the first sc in the first pinwheel section to aid in adding the second section.

Sizing: This one came out perfectly to 12" for me. But everyone's gauge and tension level are different so be sure to measure as you go and check your gauge. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows – Color A: Navy; Color B: True Blue; Color C: Bluebell; Color D: White, except for Rnds 4 and 5 when I accidentally switched colors. But I like it, so I went with it!
This square benefited from a light bit of blocking. To block this square, I used the wet blocking method and a Chetnanigans BlocksAll Ultra blocking board and Perfecting Strips.

Hi Tamara. I am wondering if you could substitute twisted sc for the crab stitches in this pattern. I really love this square and can't wait to get started. Have a great day!🙂
Tamara Kelly
I *think* if you turned to work back the other direction (from the "wrong side" of the pinwheel) it should work!
wurdnurd
I feel like I'm going crazy: did you do your pinwheel in the opposite direction as the original? Either way is lovely, but I swear it looks reversed...
Tamara Kelly
The designer is left-handed, so hers goes the other direction. 🙂
Judy Atkins
I am totally confused on the instructions for the squaring of the pinwheel, it says you working the last 5 trebles of each petal but I only have 4 trebles at the end of each petal, is there tutorial on how to do the first round of squaring off?
Tamara Kelly
Hi Judy! Have you checked out the facebook group? There's been a lot of discussion of this round there!
Judy
Thanks, I figured something out, don't know if it is correct but looks ok to me. I think this is the most difficult block I have done.
Betty Townley
I am having the same problem with the square. I don't understand the instructions at all, and I'm too late to find anything on Facebook. And I'm not a newbie!
Tamara Kelly
Have you asked for help from the designer?
Patricia A Town
